Part-time Adult Education Morning Instructor

 

Current SC certification is required

 

Purpose Statement

Under supervision of the Director of Adult Education, the adult education instructor provides effective instruction for adult learners ages 17 and older by facilitating student success in academic and interpersonal skills through courses of study and implementing state approved curricula, documenting teaching, and student progress/activities/outcomes.

 

Job Description

This job reports to the Director of Adult Education, and it is a year-round position with breaks between fall, spring, and summer sessions.

The instructor works approximately 18 hours per week Monday through Thursday mornings.

Salary: $25 per hour

 

Essential Functions

Provides effective instruction for adult students in Adult Basic Education and GED preparation

Creates and maintains a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate for the maturity and interest of the student

Prepares individual and small group lessons based on student diagnostic reports

Reviews and revises curricula to meet the needs of the adult learner

Maintains accurate records and documentation of student attendance and progress

Participates in professional development activities

Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Director

 

 

 

Qualifications

Demonstrated success with a diverse group of learners

 

Preference given to individuals with successful classroom teaching experience as measured by student success on district, state and/or national standardized assessments

 

Demonstrated ability to teach language arts and math skills at varying levels

 

Effective verbal and written communication skills

 

Satisfactory SLED (SC Law Enforcement Division) report

 

Available to work from 8:30AM to 1:00 PM Mondays through Thursdays

 

Ability to use digital tools to provide instruction and teach students to use email, Microsoft Office and/or Google products and video conferencing software.
