Description Electrician Technician

Must be detail-oriented, install, maintain and repair Electrical systems.

Must be skilled in cleaning, adjusting and repairing systems.

Technician will assist the Director of Facilities/Maintenance in guiding and advising the Chester County School District in the selection of new equipment that provides appropriate electrical systems to fulfill district requirements.

Technician will be responsible for electrical systems from installation to end-of-life by

performing maintenance and emergency repairs.

 

Technician will be responsible for installing and connecting switches, outlets, junction boxes, plugs and light fixtures with proper methods of splicing.

Reports To: Director of Facilities/Maintenance

 

Electrician Technician Requirements:

  • High school diploma, GED or suitable equivalent.
  • Two (2) years’ experience as a Electrical service technician or certification of completion from an accredited Electrical program.
  • Willingness to attend classes relative to specialized equipment.
  • Ability to work with school personnel, contractors and their employees, and the public
  • Ability to work in the absence of immediate supervisor.
  • Ability to work with other people
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before small groups of employees of organization.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions either written or oral.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Understanding of advanced principles of electrical systems.
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems.
  • Proficient in balancing Electrical systems.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in reading schematics and work plans.
  • Ability to work after hours, over weekends and on public holidays with short or no notice.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community.
  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.

 

Electrician Technician Responsibilities:

  • Installing, maintaining and repairing service entrance and distribution panels.
  • Identifying maintenance risks on equipment. Load balancing interior circuits.
  • Diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults for Electrical systems. Testing interior electrical circuits for proper operation using proper electrical instruments and test equipment.
  • Cleaning, adjusting, repairing and performing preventative maintenance on all Chester County School District systems.
  • Performing emergency repairs promptly and efficiently.
  • Providing technical direction and on-the-job training.
  • Keeping daily logs and records of all maintenance functions.
  • Ensuring compliance with appliance standards and with Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Complying with service standards, work instructions and Chester County School District requirements.
  • Assisting the Director of Facilities/Maintenance with district staff requests.
  • Assist other maintenance staff with task not related to Electrical
  • Other responsibilities and duties as required.

Terms of Employment:

235 days, Salary based on level of skills and experience

 

Evaluation:

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the CCSD Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
